Reuse and recycling area
RECYCLE Area Accepts: Glass Bottles & Jars, Newspaper, Cardboard, Magazines, Office Paper, Plastic Bottles, Urethane Foam, China Toilets and Sinks, Scrap Metal, Aluminum, Tin/Bi-metal Cans, Automotive Oil, Oil Filters and Batteries.

REUSE Area Accepts: Furniture, Electronics, Books, Clothing, Appliances, Bicycles, Mattresses, Records, Tapes, Videos, Computers, Lawn Mowers, Latex Paint, Building Materials and more.


Methane gas power plant
Methane gas is produced as a result of decomposing garbage in the landfill. Gas is collected through extraction wells in the inactive areas of the landfill, converted to electric power on site and sold to PG&E.

Plant generates 6 megawatts of electricity (equal to the energy needs of approximately 6,000 households) and began operation in 1993.


Wood drop-off
WOOD Area Accepts: Fence/Deck Wood - Nails OK, Mill Ends, Wood Shake Shingles, Plywood and Wood Pallets, Clean Demolition Wood and Construction Scrap, Boxes, Crates, Shipping Dunnage, Fines or Sawdust.

Yard debris drop-off
YARD DEBRIS Area Accepts: Grass Clippings, Leaves, Prunings, Weeds, Brush, Branches, Prunings less than 8' long and 8" in diameter, Dry Dairy, Horse and Poultry Manures.

Appliance drop-off
There is a cost associated with the special handling of appliances to remove hazardous components (e.g., freon, PCB's, lubricating oil) and to transport these materials to facilities for recycling.

Tire drop-off
Tires are monofilled; they are never landfilled.
